I think it shows that scientists rely on testing through rats now days. Also, that we can not rely on just the scientists...they may not always be right.-Bradley Rayborn
Rats and mice have been used forever to study new technology in the form of medicine or genetics. I believe that rats have pioneered the new age of genetics. Andrew Durbin
I think the rat that is leading the scientist through the maze shows us that scientist need rats for genetic experiments. It is also like "the blind is leading the blind."- Sam Chambliss
I think It shows how scientist depend on mice in their studies. The mouse leading the scientists around shows that the outcome of the experiment is determined by the mouse, so the scientists are, in theory, controlled by what the mouse does. - Drew Wade
I think it shows how scientists are using mice to discover new things in the world of science. If you think about it, this means that mice are the ones who are actually leading the way, which is what the picture shows.-Abby Lander
Even though mice have been the most frequent test subjects for human experiments, we can't be sure if the tests that work for mice will do the same for humans because our genetic code is so much more different compared to mice. These scientists here are relying on the mouse to finish the project for humanity. -JUYEONG LEE
http://kwiprod.us/cs485/website/dna_cartoon.jpgThis cartoon is poking fun at the many faults of DNA testing&how dependent people are on the results, without looking at what's obviously right in front of them.--Caitlin Williamson
This cartoon strip was created to show how our new "creations" through genetic engineering could be leading us into a maze we are unable to find our way out of, but with the help of our genetically modified animals, we might find the way out. -Janet
I believe that this cartoon exemplifies genetic science of today. The mouse in the cartoon is being portrayed as a bloodhound, or a way to get out of the maze. This insinuates that scientists are reliant upon mice for guidance in genetic engineering. The quote "genetic engineering got us into this mess, and genetic engineering will get us out of it" implies that although genetic engineering can be negative and cause confusion, its problems can generally be worked out.-Rebecca Carter
The cartoon shows that without mice being used to in the genetic world for research, the scientists themselves would be lost. Genetic engineering has the potential to create problems, but it also has potential to solve problems. -Sherilyn Minnigh
I think the cartoon is humorous in a sense that the scientist use mice to every extent in the study of genetics. They train mice to do almost anything, therefore they are expecting the mouse to lead them out of the maze that they are not even sure how to get out of themselves. The mouse has senses of that as a "bloodhound" ensuring them a confident result. Everyone is lost in a reasonable manner, but they rely on genetics to reassure them of a positive result.
I think that the cartoon shows that without testing on mice, scientists would be lost. It shows that the mice are really the ones leading the way.-Hannah Sylvest
I think that this cartoon is a perfect example of how scientists rely on mice for genetic testing. Because in the cartoon, the two scientists put all their trust in that mouse to lead the way through the maze they did not know how to get out of. Well that ties into real life genetics because sometimes when scientists find a new cure or vaccine, they test it on mice to see if it will work or not before humans because they know that testing on the mouse will lead their way into success.
The scientists, unwilling to take the blame, are relying on mouse, that they undoubtedly altered, to fix the problem that the scientists created.-Meredith Muir
I think this cartoon is a great example to the readers of how much the scientists rely on rat experimental testing to lead them in their discoveries.
So,basically, genetic engineering is a trial&error science. The scientists have no way of knowing what the results will be.--Caitlin WilliamsonP.s. Please ignore my previous post. I posted before you told first block you'd redone the assignment. (:
Scientists rely so heavily on mice and other seemingly insignificant test subjects. The fact that a mere mouse can alter a far more superior being's research and results is astounding, to say the least. This cartoon truly shows how twisted genetic testing has become.-Halee Harrelson
This cartoon really shows how scientist rely on animal testing to obtain answers for particular hypothesized theories in the medical field or any field that pertains to human consumption or usage. -love Ash Lee Tucker from 1st
The scientists in the cartoon chose to fight fire with fire and they will most likely get burned. By turning to what got them in a bind in the first place, they will most likely just end up further down the rabbit hole.
The cartoon reveals that genetic testing has relied on animal studies so much in the past century that scientists have become lost in what is to come next. The only direction they see fit to travel is with more studies that reflect what has already been done.-Amy Rawlinson
I think the cartoon of the mice basically leading the scientist through the maze is showing that scientists are dependent on experiments and to further genetic engineering the outcome of the experiments, whether good or bad, are so valuable.- Megan Stein 1st Period
I think the cartoon shows that scientists cannot rely on themselves or others. They must rely on their hypothesis('s) and then doing an experiment on that hypothesis('s). -Rachel Sheppard-1st Period:)
I think this cartoon shows how dependent scientists have become on rats. They expect them to show us the answers for our experiments and diseases. But mice and humans are not the same, so this isn't the most reliable way to solve any problems.Kayleigh Smith
I think that rats have pioneered genetics and maybe scientists might need to try other species of animals. Scientist rely on the study of rats way to much.*Bria Rushing*5th period
The cartoon shows that scientist rely solely on mice for genetic testing. They are dependent on them for leading the way through testing and experiments, and therefore, would be lost without them.Randa OwensFirst period
I think that this shows that the scientists rely more on the experiments more than people think. They also might not be as sure as people think about what they are doing, thats why there walking behind the monkey.Austin Crook
I think that the cartoon shows how scientists depend on mice for their experients and leading the way more than we think they do. Without the mice they may not discover the same results or any results at all in their experiments. -Robin Hinson 4th period
symbolically, the mouse symbolizes genetic testing, and the maze represents where and how far we can go through genetic testing. 3rd period .
it shows that scientists are using mice for genetic testing. The mouse is leading them through the "maze" of their studies.
I believe the cartoon shows us that without lab tests run on mice and rats, genetics would not be where it is today. we have become dependent on the animals to lead us through the maze of experiments rather than use science and deductive reasoning.
This cartoon depicts how important lab rats have become in science. The cartoon is showing that scientists can very easily get themselves into a "maze" when rushing into new findings in genetic engineering, and in order to find their way to the other side, they must depend on, in this case, the lab rats which they are studying.
I believe the cartoon shows how dependent we've become on mice for genetic experiments. The mouse leading them through the maze is symbolic of us trying to use them to solve our genetic problems. Cameron Clark
In my opinion, the cartoon is suggesting that scientists are blindly being lead by the mice being tested.
I believe that this picture highlights the emphasis that has been put on genetic engineering which hasn't proven as effective and reliable as other methods. The mouse represents genetic engineering, which doesn't have the best track record.Lauren DavisFirst Period
Scientists depend a lot on animal testing. and sometimes they make assumptions that aren't necessarily right. -taylor teems
I believe this cartoon shows the scientific reliance on animals to solve human problems. The scientists clearly rely to much on animals for their dirty work.
I think this cartoon means that scientist rely on genetic testing to solve various problems, even when the test has nothing to do with the issue. This is shown by the scientists in the cartoon relying on the rat to help them find their way out of the maze.
To me this cartoon shows the importance of genetic experimentation to solve problems that humans have. And I agree its sad that animals are used, but I think people are too hard on the scientists. People want it to stop, but I don't see them volunteering to be tested on
This cartoon shows how scientist use mice to conduct genetic testing which they will later use on humans, as if the results will be the same. It also shows how scientist don't know exactly how the results will come out, therefore, we either live by the mouse or die by the mouse.
Hmmm... maybe its saying that some of the most unlikely creatures can give us the most beneficial answers to problems and questions that actual human experimentation cannot solve. -Gladisha Hodges
I think the cartoon is trying to extend the message that animals are a vital part of genetic testing, so that scientist can study genetics with out putting humans at risk. Animals are a key facture in scientific advancement.-ashley cunningham
I think the cartoon shows that scientists like to do genetic testing on rats and can rely on them too much at times. Also, that maybe rats are scientists favorite subjects to test.- Zach Darby
I think that this cartoon illustrates that without mice, we would not to be able to begin to understand the genetic problems that people are faced with everyday.
I think this cartoon reflects the fact that mice are most always subject for scientific experiments. Sometimes scientists focus on how mice react to things, when they could use different animals as a test subject.
Scientists often focus their studies using rats in their experiments. They use them usually to see what the reaction is. Rats are very beneficial to genetic studies, but I think they are often times used too much. I do not like animal testing, but I don't think humans should be used either & to make progress and discoveries, sometimes you have to things you don't want to. Scientist's do what they have to for the better of the whole. Like Ms. Boyd said, "What's good for the goose, is good for the gander." -Kara Montgomery
Genetics is complex like a maze and information scientist gather from experiments on mice help them to better understand genetics.
I think this shows that scientists are relying too entirely on genetic sciences and not even trying other things to solve problems.
Scientist try to control genetic behavior through experiments such as using/teaching a mouse to go through a maze. But they also have trial and error, like when the mouse will take a wrong turn in the maZe.
To me this picture shows that scientists these days are way too dependent on mice and the results of their experiments. And if they get themselves into a bind, they dont try to get out of it themselves, they go right back to mice, who are quite possibly the root of the trouble, and see if Performing experiments on them will get them out of it.Vivian stathopoulos
Genetics is complex like a maze and scientist use the information they gather from experiments on mice to better understand genetics.
They depend on the mice to do too much for them they treat it as if the mice can solve a man's problem. These scientist are in for a rude awakening when the mouse can't get them out of the maze.
